Malabayabas (Tristaniopsis decorticata)

Overjoyed to have this specimen of Malabayabas (Tristaniopsis decorticata) all the way from Quezon Province thru the efforts and generosity of Forester Eraldwin Dimailig and Doc Lea Aseron-Balaga. Many thanks!

Mahkota Dewa (Phaleria macrocarpa)

Lots of fruits beginning to ripe now of my God's Crown/Mahkota Dewa (Phaleria macrocarpa). 

Successfully germinated this from seeds last year. This is indigenous to Indonesia and taken as a popular tea. The God’s Crown or Mahkota Dewa is so powerful as it has four crucial chemical substances including Flavonoid, Alkaloid, Saponin and Polyphenol.

Durio graveolens

After a heavy rain, time to outplant additional Durio graveolens. Grown from seed so one can't expect early fruiting of this specimen. The purpose is for diversity and the future fruit is only a bonus. 

The fruit last season which the seedling came from the seeds of these batch.

The 12-yr old mother tree. A great source of scions for grafting soon.

Yakal Magasusu (Hopea mindanensis)

My 2nd Yakal Magasusu (Hopea mindanensis) on the ground. Endemic to Mindanao the Philippines. Endangered due to habitat loss.

Parrots Beak (Gmelina philippensis)

The first flower of Bulangan/Parrots Beak (Gmelina philippensis) which came out last July is finally a ripe fruit. I will try to germinate these asap.

Most of its branches have this flowers and soon to be producing additional ripe fruits.

Sword Beans (Canavalia gladiata)

Dried pod of a Giant Sword Beans (Canavalia gladiata). Young pods for cooking and dried beans powdered for a healthy drink.

Collected beans are for drying and to be save for future planting.

Katuray (Sesbania grandiflora)

Flowering White Katuray/ Hummingbird tree (Sesbania grandiflora)

Katuray is often planted for its edible pod and flowers. Flowers are an excellent source of calcium, fair source of iron, good source of vitamin B.

Kepel (Stelechocarpus burahol)

My lone Kepel (Stelechocarpus burahol), it is native to Indonesia. It will take 8yrs to fruit but glad to add/plant this soon in my rare fruits collection. 

The Kepel tree produces fruits on its trunk.

Kepel fruits are aromatic and have a sweet, fruity, and tropical flavor with papaya, mango, and coconut undertones.

Camia (Hedychium coronarium)

Outplanted another White Ginger Lily/Camia (Hedychium coronarium). Successfully germinated this from seeds last year.

Pelagodoxa henryana Palm

Planted a rare (Critically endangered) palm on my collection — Pelagodoxa henryana. It is found only in the Marquesas Islands of French Polynesia, where it is threatened by habitat loss.

Raspberry Bush (Randia formosa)

Blackberry jam fruit aka raspberry bush (Randia formosa) added on my food forest. This is native to Panama, Colombia, Venezuela, and Ecuador. 😋🌱🌳

Nutmeg (Myristica fragrans)

Sometimes the weeds can keep your new plants cool under the sweltering heat of the sun. This is Nutmeg (Myristica fragrans) outplanted couple of months ago.

I do put a shade for the young outplanted seedling, its from a leaf of a coconut and sometimes weeds will occupy most of it acting additional protection for the plant.

Katmon (Dillenia philippinensis)

First fruiting of this Katmon (Dillenia philippinensis), it was outplanted last January 2020.

 It has two small fruits already that I wasn't able to notice it.

Anahaw Palm (Saribus rotundifolius)

The start of fruit fall for the Anahaw palm (Saribus rotundifolius). Some of these palm are growing since the 50's and 60's. Although it is invasive since bats love to feast on its ripe fruits and dispersed the seeds anywhere and will grow in almost any type of soil, but still has many uses. Your agroforestry farm is incomplete without Anahaw — the National Leaf of the Philippines.

Round straight bole trunk of the old Anahaw Palm which is extra hard when used in construction. 

Towering heights of these palm can grow as high as the tallest coconuts.

Philippine Teak (Tectona philippinensis)

Outplanted my first Phil.Teak (Tectona philippinensis). This is the first one that successfully germinated from the batch of seeds last year. The species is endemic to the Philippines and endangered.
