Tabo (Willughbeia sarawacensis)

A glimmer of hope to one of my Tabo (Willughbeia sarawacensis). A tropical vine that has edible fruits native to Borneo and the surrounding island of Palawan.

Dungon (Heritiera sylvatica)

Dropped my first Dungon (Heritiera sylvatica). This is a large tree reaching up to 45mtrs in height. It is recommended for steamed bentwork where strength and durability are required. Due to the toughness of the wood, it is favored for bulletproof shields. One of the prize-trees in the Philippines due to its toughness and durability.

Applied heavy mulching for the anticipation of the coming dry season. 

These are the germinants last December 2020. Finally I got to outplant one of them already after 13 months.

Alpinia haenkie

Outplanted another Zingiber on my collection. This is Alpinia haenkie grown from seeds mid last year 2021. Its native range is from Philippines to Java.

This will be an additional to my growing list of collection on the Ginger family. 

 

Planting White Lauan

Dropped additional 5 White Lauan (Shorea contorta). One was a replacement and planted on the decaying Narra stump that was harvested long ago. 

This is a replacement of the Narra tree that was harvested long ago.

Most of this White Lauan are planted along the boundary line of the property to act as a wind-breaker.

 

White Torch Ginger

Outplanted my first White Torch Ginger (Etlingera sp.). Grown this from seeds last May 2021. This is a great addition on my Zingiber collection.

Red Indonesian Ginger

Harvested some Red Indonesian ginger along with the common ginger. Of course planted again some for future use. 

Red ginger contains useful compounds such as shogaol, gingerol, zingeron, and many more. With so many active substances that can cure various ailments, no wonder red ginger is a very popular herb.

Gac Fruit

Gac Fruit (Momordica cochinchinensis) is notable for its vivid orange-reddish color resulting from its rich content of beta-carotene and lycopene and is considered a "super food".

The shiny black seeds of the Gac Fruit. Its shell is hard and can be dormant for so long and still viable.

Malakalumpit (Terminalia calamansanai)

Malakalumpit (Terminalia calamansanai) are now ready to be outplanted. Just waiting for the rain. Great addition soon to my edible collection.

Parrot's beak/Bulangan (Gmelina philippensis)

Finally dropped down my lone Parrot's beak/Bulangan (Gmelina philippensis). This is a thorny, climbing shrub. Indigenous and vulnerable.

Ackee (Blighia sapida)

Let's start 2022 with a bang! Planted additional Ackee (Blighia sapida). Ackee is the national fruit of Jamaica and is considered a delicacy.

Abiu (Pouteria caimito)

Planted additional Abiu (Pouteria caimito) for Christmas day 2021.

Abiu is commonly propagated by seed; seedling trees usually begin fruit production in 3–4 years after planting. It is a tropical fruit tree originated in the Amazonian region of South America. It grows to an average of 33 feet (10 m) high, and can grow as high as 116 feet (35 m) under good conditions. 

 

Latexless Jackfruit

Latexless Jackfruit added in my collection along with the Malaysian Jackfruit. Its crisp and sweet golden yellow meat is fantastic. I will outplant more soon. 

Its fruits are round and only weights around 5-6kilos. The meat inside are golden yellow while the arils are white but no latex. 

 

Mulberry

Time to plant more Japanese and Australian Hybrid Mulberries. 

I have about 9 varieties of Mulberry already. They are perfect for my food forest. 

Australian hybrid are prolific and the fruits are much bigger compare to other varieties. 

 

Cobra Vine

Cobra vine (Ipomea nil). Grown from seeds from my lone mother plant. This is believed to be an effective therapy for snake bites, heart disease, fatigue, and its laxative effects that can soften stool when constipated.

These will be my additional plants to back up my lone mother plant.
