Dila-Dila (Cynometra inaequifolia)

One of my Dila-Dila (Cynometra inaequifolia) showcasing its beauty. Conservation status of this species is "VULNERABLE", under threat due to habitat loss and harvested in the wild for its good quality charcoal. The wood is heavy and suitable for heavy-duty flooring.

Young shoots of Dila-dila with resemblance to Balitbitan (Cynometra ramiflora).

Seedlings are available at BORIS PRIVATE SANCTUM

Tabon-tabon (Atuna racemosa)

Dropped an additional Tabon-tabon (Atuna racemosa). Very popular in the Northern Mindanao as a native ingredient for the local dish kinilaw (Raw Fish).

Tabon-tabon seedlings ready for outplanting.

Tabon-tabon fruit is used for local dish kinilaw to remove the unpleasant smell of raw fish.

One of the best native ingredient for the raw fish dish.

Celebrating the 1st year of my son Bovith

Celebrating the 1st year of my son Bovith by planting another Lapnisan — the wood of the gods. This time we outplanted 2 varieties, Gyrinops and filaria. May these trees grow along with him.

At 6mos old we also outplanted a Lapnisan tree.

His first pic with the Lapnisan seedling.

Pelagodoxa henryana

Even with too much rainfall my Pelagodoxa henryana palm is doing well on the open ground. It suffered a sunburn earlier but now fully recovered and hardened. This is a critically endangered palm found only in the Marquesas Islands in French Polynesia.

Baguilumbang (Reutealis trisperma)

New species added on my native tree collection is the Baguilumbang (Reutealis trisperma) aka Philippine Tung Tree. Commercially cultivated in India for its tung oil.
Conservation status : VULNERABLE.

I have plenty of Lumbang/Candle Nut (Aleurites moluccana) growing wild here, it's a widespread species that's why its conservation status is LEAST CONCERN compared to Baguilumbang.

Kayam (Inocarpus fagifer)

My Kayam (Inocarpus fagifer) aka Polynesian chestnut after 14mos on the ground. It's a bit slow growing for me. According to the info it would take 8yrs for this tree to produce its first fruit but flowering will occur from 3-5yrs after planting.

The fruit of Kayam can be boiled and eaten. During the World War II this species is an important source of food to some civilians and cast away soldiers.

Outplanted last year at around a foot tall. It's a slow growing base on my observation.

Pili (Canarium ovatum)

Double rootstock grafted Pili (Canarium ovatum) for future source of pili nuts. This is Mayon variety.

The stem showing a double rootstock and grafted with a Mayon vatiety scion.

This was given to me as a gift from a SONATA MASTER Noel Pregon. Hopefully this will be a future source of scions for future grafting to be able to produce a prolific tree for its nuts.

Anuping (Gymnacranthera farquhariana)

For germination — Anuping (Gymnacranthera farquhariana). This Myristicaceae species occurs in primary and secondary forests, in peat swamps, along rivers or in well drained forests on hills and ridges, up to 1,300 m of altitude. If succesful, it will be added soon in my Nutmeg collection.
