Marang (Artocarpus odoratissimus)

Tree-ripe Marang fruit (Artocarpus odoratissimus). A very common fruit here as it is native in Mindanao, Palawan and Borneo. The species is largely grown for local consumption; the short shelf-life of the fruit limits its wider use.

Just a young tree around 7 years old. This is its third time to produce a lot. Its been there before I developed the area and planted some rare fruits and other edibles for the food forest.

For more edible fruit bearing species, visit and follow BORIS PRIVATE SANCTUM on Facebook.
