Batikuling (Litsea leytensis)

Batikuling (Litsea leytensis). These will be my replacement to my Batikuling trees that didn't survived the drought last year.

Batikuling wood, derived from the Litsea leytensis tree, is a highly valued material in the Philippines, particularly by woodcarvers in Paete, Laguna. Known for its fine grain, durability, and ease of carving, it has been traditionally used to create religious icons, furniture, and intricate sculptures. However, due to overharvesting and restrictions from the log ban, the tree's supply has become scarce, leading to its inclusion on the government's threatened-species list.

Limited seedlings for planting are available at BORIS PRIVATE SANCTUM.
