Lanutan Bagyo (Gonystylus macrophyllus)

New species on the ground — Lanutan Bagyo (Gonystylus macrophyllus). This is a huge tree growing up to 45mtrs tall with a bole up to 100cm in diameter. It is also an agarwood producing tree if infected with a fungus. Highly valued, it is used as an incense and to make high quality perfumes. 💕🌱🌳

Sword Beans (Canavalia gladiata). I've been growing this for 3 years now. The beans and young pods are edible and very nutritious. 😍🌱❤️

Nun's Orchid (Calanthe tankervilleae)

Propagating a few suckers of Nun's Orchid (Calanthe tankervilleae). 

Naturally found in the Pacific island, Malaysia, Indonesia, Taiwan and Philippines with elevation of upto 1,300masl. This species has become an invasive species in some countries such as Jamaica and Hawaii. In Papua the smoked flowers are eaten as a contraceptive. 😍🌱❤️

Bogni (Syzygium davaoense)

Transplanted to individual polybag the young germinants of Bogni (Syzygium davaoense). The ripe fruits are germinated in the common pot last December 2023. 😍🌱🌳

75 pots are partially transplanted and there will be more additional in the coming weeks.

This is one of the mother tree in situ.

Satsumaimo / Japanese Sweet Potato

Satsumaimo or Japanese Sweet Potato (JSP) for propagation. I was able to plant of this variety way back in 2016 along with Yamaimo, Wasabi , Phalaenopsis orchids and Sakura from Japan but nothing left due to neglect. Only my Loquat tree and some Amaryllis survived upto now. 💕🌱❤️

Hopefully this time around will be a different story from the previous experience.

Ubod for Lumpia

Heart of coconut palm or "Ubod" as one of the ingredients of the traditional Filipino Lumpia recipe. One of my favorite. 😋

You can mixed it with other veggies if you want a vegan Lumpia.

Suwarri Nut (Caryocar nuciferum)

Finally! After 4 years of waiting to have a planting material of this Suwarri Nut (Caryocar nuciferum) from Africa. Successfully recovered a newly grown wildling from the 10 year old mother tree of Doc Alexis De Manuel in his farm at Kidapawan City. 😍🌱🌳

I also found a single ripe fruit that fell already to the ground. I will be trying my luck again to germinate the single seed inside.

This was the firstime I encountered the fruit and the nut, February of 2020. 

By 2021 I was able to witness the huge flowers of Suwarri Tree.

Mangusisang (Syzygium spp.)

One of my Mangusisang (Syzygium spp.) is now more than 5ft after 14mos in the ground. This is under partly shaded with the sunshine comes in contact to it at around 2pm in the afternoon. 😍🌱🌳

From a small size 1 foot tall seedling outplanted in November of 2022.
