Feather Palm (Calyptrocalyx elegans). Calyptrocalyx elegans is native to the rainforests of Papua New Guinea, specifically found in the lowland and foothill forests of the north coast. This palm thrives in the understory of primary forests at elevations ranging from sea level to approximately 800 meters. In New Guinea, leaves are used to wrap food and the heart of palm is eaten.
