Piris (Garcinia vidalii)

Will try to germinate the seeds of this ripe fruit of Piris (Garcinia vidalii). 



The fruit has a yellow sap that is very sticky and it taste sour but very juicy. 



Garcinia vidalii is an evergreen tree growing up to 25 metres tall. The edible fruit is gathered from the wild for local use. The plant is occasionally grown for its fruit and has also been used experimentally as a root stock for the mangosteen (Garcinia mangostana).



If successfully germinated, this Garcinia species will be an additional native collection at BORIS PRIVATE SANCTUM.

Bulangan/Parrots Beak (Gmelina philippensis)

Lots of ripe fruits to my 1.5yr old Bulangan/Parrots Beak (Gmelina philippensis). First flowering was August of 2022 and since then it went non-stop. 😍🌱🌳



Gathered almost 500 pieces of ripe fruits that falls to the ground. 



Attractive yellow flowers of Parrot's beak can be seen hanging from its woody vine stem.

Balonsaging (Phytocrene sp.)

Seeds of Balonsaging (Phytocrene sp.) for germination and if successful hopefully it will be added on the woody vine edible collection. πŸ˜πŸŒ±πŸ’•

On the ground is Bahai (Ormosia calavensis) for 2023 Arbor Day

On the ground is Bahai (Ormosia calavensis), dropped as a remembrance for 2023 Arbor Day. This is a fast growing hardwood species. ❤️🌱🌳



Since 2020 every Arbor Day I managed to outplant a native tree species as a remembrance.

Bogo (Garuga floribunda)

Fast growing even in a partly shaded area. This Bogo (Garuga floribunda) is just 11mos on the ground. Behind it is the Balakat (Ziziphus talanai). πŸ’•πŸŒ±πŸŒ³



Expecting that next year it will reach approximately 20ft tall.



Outplanted this from just over a foot tall seedling.

Alupag (Dimocarpus didyma)

Dropped my 2nd Alupag (Dimocarpus didyma) on the ground. This is successfully germinated from a batch of seeds almost a year ago. πŸ˜‹πŸŒ±πŸŒ³



Fruits of Alupag, a relative of Longgan.

Bonfire Tree (Firmiana colorata)

Potted my Bonfire Tree (Firmiana colorata) for nursing. The scarlet sterculia is a medium-sized tree with spreading branches. It sheds leaves before the onset of flowering. After leaf-shedding, buds sprout and develop into flowers. The tree flowers from March to April. 😍🌱🌳

Thornless Durian

Thornless Durian is finally outplanted. I intentionally left a spot for this and adds up to only a few selected Durian variety in the collection. ❤️🌱🌳



This thornless durian variety is sweet with a BRIX level of 42.

New breed of heritage chickens

Newly breed from last year since none was left from my 2015 Asil breed of chickens. 




BORIS PRIVATE SANCTUM will try to raise chickens for personal consumption unlike before where we raise for commercial purposes.

Javan cucumber (Alsomitra macrocarpa)

Seeds of Javan cucumber (Alsomitra macrocarpa) is a species of vine found on the island of Java in Indonesia. 



It's seeds are stored in its gourds, which are the size of footballs. 



The aerodynamics of the giant Alsomitra seeds were studied by two Japanese engineers, Akira Azuma and Yoshinori Okuno more than 20 years ago. ❤️🌱



BORIS PRIVATE SANCTUM will propagate these seeds and will soon add to the vine collection of the Sanctum.

Nam Hom Dwarf Coconut

Nam Hom Dwarf Coconut on the ground. Nam Hom in Thai language, which translates to "fragrant water". Some also calls this variety as "Aromatic" coconut. πŸ˜‹πŸ₯₯🌴

Katmon Sibuyan (Dillenia sibuyanensis)

After a year on the ground, my Dillenia sibuyanensis are having non-stop flowers. The native range of this species is Philippines (Sibuyan). It is a shrub or tree and grows primarily in the wet tropical biome. 😍🌱🌳



Outplanted this last June of 2022.
