Thank you Doc Alex for the time and the quick tour of your rare fruits collection with the Yamog Group.

Mam Beng of Yamog carefully inspecting a fruit of Nutmeg (Myristica fragrans).

Nutmeg seedlings will be available soon for disposal at BORIS PRIVATE SANCTUM.

Magpet visit

Site assessment for future Agroforestry tourism site of Yamog Renewable Energy Development Group, Inc. at Sitio Lubas, Brgy. Amabel, Magpet, North Cotabato.

Thank you Yamog Group for the invitation to have us with you!

Katmon-Sibuyan (Dillenia sibuyanensis)

Non-stop flowering of my rare Katmon-Sibuyan (Dillenia sibuyanensis). Its been doing good in the open sun but unfortunately I always missed the chance to gather the seeds from its exposed ripe fruits which can easily dropped down by the raindrops. 😍🌱🌳

This specimen was outplanted just 14mos ago and it's giving me a glimpse of yellow beauty all the time.

BORIS PRIVATE SANCTUM will soon propagate this species.

Lapnisan (Aquilaria cumingiana) with Shroom

I'll enjoy the shroom first! I'm not expecting much with the oud or the liquid gold on this Lapnisan tree. πŸ„πŸ˜‹

Lapnisan species are the main source of the expensive Oud used for incense and high end perfume brands. BORIS PRIVATE SANCTUM grows a variety of agar-producing trees as part of its effort on conservation.

Malaipil (Afzelia borneensis)

Grown from a batch of seeds 20mos ago and is finally grounded in replacement of the fallen exotic species. This is Malaipil (Afzelia borneensis). I have outplanted the other one lastyear and it has a rough start compare to this.

The mother tree with autumn effect is from an old photo of ka-native Mark Carranza who also shared the seeds to me last 2021. 😍🌱🌳

Lychee (Litchi chinensis Sonn.)

Leaf flushing to one of my young Lychee (Litchi chinensis Sonn.) Willing to wait for atleast 5 or more years before it starts fruiting. Propagation from seeds are not true to type. It is also a slow growing fruit tree and also a hardwood.

One of the best species to grow if you are into Apiculture as the honey harvested from hives that feed on lychee flowers is prized for its lychee-like flavor and non-granulating. 😍🌱🌳

Hilo Buddha Hawaiian Sugarcane

Propagating these cuttings of Hilo Buddha Hawaiian Sugarcane.

It is a rare ornamental sugarcane that differs greatly from other varieties even in flavor and texture. It can grow upto 8ft, and when matured it contains a cotton-candy-like sweet fibers that seems to melt in your mouth. πŸ˜‹πŸŒ±πŸ’•

Planting materials are available at BORIS PRIVATE SANCTUM.

Surprise Visit

Fellow native tree advocates at the Sanctum, gathering some fallen fruits of native gmelina Parrots Beak and herbal power Mahkota Dewa. ❤️🌱🌳

Ka-Sonata Kgwd. Patricio Amarillo collected some fallen fruits of native flowering woody vine Bulangan/Parrots Beak.

Fallen ripe fruits of Mahkota Dewa (Phaleria macrocarpa) can easily be pick up on the ground underneath the young mother tree.

Ka-SONATA Edgar CaΓ±ete is a frequent visitor here at the Sanctum.

For more interesting plant species you can inquire at BORIS PRIVATE SANCTUM.

Barbadine (Passiflora quadrangularis)

Start of ripening of Barbadine (Passiflora quadrangularis). Very nice for smoothie and ice cream. πŸ˜‹πŸŒ±❤️

Lots of immature fruits, it can be use and cook as a vegetable.

Unique shape of a Barbadine fruit.

Seeds and seedlings for planting are available at BORIS PRIVATE SANCTUM.

Popwan (Artocarpus anisophyllus)

Fruit of Popwan (Artocarpus anisophyllus). A close relative of Marang, Kamansi, Kolo and Langka. Taste sweet with more closely to a banana texture and with a little bit of citrus flavor. πŸ˜‹πŸŒ±πŸ˜

Very easy to peel off when ripe, just the same with Marang fruit. The interior edible pulp comes with a vibrant color orange.

Its fruit has no smell at all!

BORIS PRIVATE SANCTUM will propagate the seeds from this single fruit.

Unidentified Native Tree Species

This could be a Diospyros sp that's been sitting on my nursery for over a year. It would be better grounded than re-bag and wait for its proper ID.

Kuela (Bhesa paniculata)

Finally outplanted this lone Kuela (Bhesa paniculata) that is long overdue in my nursery. Successfully germinated this from seeds of a handful of ripe fruits last 2021. It is a native fruit with a sour taste. ❤️🌱🌳

Edible ripe fruit of Kuela, taste sour.

Tabo and Mararing seeds for germination

Got some few Tabo (Willughbeia sarawacensis) and Mararing (Xantophyllum amoenum) seeds for germination. These are some future back-up plants to some specimen that I already outplanted 3yrs ago. πŸ’•πŸŒ±πŸŒ³

Mararing seeds soaked in water overnight for germination in the common pot the next day.

Tabo fruits sold in the market for 60pesos per kilo.

Mararing fruit that looks like Santol and Mangostene in combination.
