Thinning my Kalumpit (Terminalia microcarpa)

Thinning my Kalumpit (Terminalia microcarpa). This specimen was outplanted August of 2020 and is now about 20ft high. Removing some of its branches to expose others to more sunlight and air circulation which helps to reduce the incidence of disease. This increased light penetration can also benefit trees and shrubs that are in close proximity. 🌳🌳🌳

Mulch and let it decompose for additional biomass. Feeding again my soil.

Katmon-Dilaw (Dillenia monantha)

Flower and fruit of my lone Katmon-Dilaw (Dillenia monantha). It has ornamental potential because of its attractive flowers. Listed as "vulnerable" by IUCN. 😍🌱🌳

Trial propagation on this species is currently on going at BORIS PRIVATE SANCTUM, and as per observation it has a higher rate of success via cloning method. Limited planting materials will soon be release.

Gyrinops verstegii — Agarwood

One of my Gyrinops verstegii doing well at partly shaded area. This is one of the species in the genera Gyrinops that produces agarwood. Outplanted this October of 2022 during the 1st birthday of my son. 😍🌱🌳

Now standing around 5ft tall. 

Outplanted it with my son Bovith as a remembrance for his 1st birthday.

Growing Cucumbers

Cucumbers are very low in calories which is good for weight loss and has high water content for the body's balanced hydration.

These are grown purely for personal consumption at BORIS PRIVATE SANCTUM.

Pamitoyen (Calophyllum pentapetalum)

My lone Pamitoyen (Calophyllum pentapetalum) at 17mos. on the ground. I'm willing to wait for its first bloom. 😍🌱🌳

Outplanted it last June  of 2022.

Gorgeous mother tree of Pamitoyen loaded of its small white flowers in clusters.

Breeding free-range chickens

Free fertile eggs for consumption from my free range chickens. Since last week I have a total of 52 newly hatch chicks from 5 hens. As of now I have 18 hens and 12 roosters. Way too low but manageable compared to 2016 which I have 90 hens and 27 roosters. 🐔🐥🍗

This is one of my black meat hen with 13 eggs currently on her nest waiting to hatch her eggs.

This one is a selected breed of hen which is a meat-type chicken that I am breeding in order to produce more of its line.

BORIS PRIVATE SANCTUM will soon acquire various breeds of hen to mix with other heritage breed to prevent inbreeding.

Soil is Life

There is no food security without a healthy soil. My soil is high in humus, it consists of partially decayed organic matter that makes the soil porous, thereby increasing its air and water holding capacity. 

Feed your soil and your soil will feed your plants. ❤️🌱

Lumbayao (Heritiera javanica)

One of my Lumbayao (Heritiera javanica) now standing at 12ft.  ❤️🌱🌳

This is planted under partial shade. 

My last photo shows the date January 16, 2023 where it is approximately at 8 feet.

Tabo (Willughbeia sarawacensis)

Glad to see one of my Tabo (Willughbeia sarawacensis) are now beginning to climb its way up after almost 4 years. 😉🌱💕

Ripe fruits of Tabo on display at the roadside of Palawan. This species grows abundantly in the whole island.

The edible portion of the fruit is the white cottony pulp that surrounds the seed. 

BORIS PRIVATE SANCTUM only has a very limited number of seedlings for disposal.

Poison Vine (Derris elliptica)

Poison Vine (Derris elliptica) or locally we called it "Tubli". The roots of D. elliptica contain rotenone, a strong insecticide and fish poison. For 4 years now I have supplied roots, stem and leaf samples of this climbing vine for thesis purposes to some students. 

I am propagating this species not to be use as fish poison but I am interested to use thi at BORIS PRIVATE SANCTUM as a plant-base insecticide.

How time flies quickly

There is already so much life in this certain area where I first started 50 months ago. 😍🌱🌳

Tagpo (Ardisia squamulosa)

These are pods of Turnips. Edible but my purpose of this is for planting the seeds. 

Birds eye chili just growing wild brought probably by the birds feeding on my ripe mulberries on this site.

Soon to be pollinators of BORIS PRIVATE SANCTUM are enjoying their stay on a chemical free environment.
